Some of the best books in management

In this post I will give you a list of the best Amazon books on management. I have been reading a lot of books in recent years and these are my favourites.

The Essential Managers Handbook: The Ultimate Visual Guide to Successful Management.

I read this book a long time ago. Simple layout style makes it easy to dip in and out of this book. Some useful information which I’ve used for my CMI leadership level 3 diploma research. The book is made up of several books from the series, so you won’t need the other books if you buy this one. Book is hardback and is smaller than I expected. Amazingly written, awesome graphics. It’s really different experience. Best thing is all the topics briefly covered.

War and Peace and It: Business Leadership, Technology, and Success in the Digital Age

All fresh, innovative and based on a sound personal experience plus a number of reference books. In my opinion a must read for anyone who considers himself/herself an agile oriented manager. The important part is that it covers nearly all the angles – from technology down to accounting etc. Get it. You wont regret it. 🙂

The Little Book of Big Management Theories. And how to use them

Excellent book. Describes 101 theories very briefly including analysis, guides on when to apply them, and comparisons between different theories within themes. Simple layout has already been very useful. It’s practical, an easy read, provides clear insights and will introduce or re-introduce you to some familiar terms and names that you’ve probably heard before (in work based courses). It’s worth the money and much cheaper than many text books too!

The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership: Follow Them and People Will Follow You

This book provides food for thought to help you develop a new perspective on the role of leadership positions. At the same time, it contains proposals that can be implemented in practice and help improve your leadership skills. The book is well written, simple and yet powerful and leaves a desire to put the principles into practice. Leadership is a lifestyle and this book is invaluable on the journey.
